Babelgum snags more content
The largest complaint that has been raised about Babelgum, a new Internet TV service, is the lack of quality content. For more information check out the recent comparison of Babelgum and Joost. Until recently the selection of videos to watch has been extremely limited and not very exciting. Yesterday Babelgum announced a slew of new content partners, 30 in all. There are a couple of well known names like Reuters, the BBC, Ministry of Sound and Spike Lee. A full list can be found here. It’s evident that Babelgum is aiming for niche documentaries since almost a third of the newly announced material falls into that category. Babelgum is apparently trying to hit the highroad versus Joost’s plethora of younger demographic content. If Babelgum is trying to differentiate itself from competitors with a higher level of sophistication, that may be key to its relevance. As is, the low-end already is already teeming with questionable and failed offerings. Go Babelgum go.
