Google Reader having Problems?

 It may be an isolated incident but some users (including myself) are reporting problems with Google Reader.  Feeds are currently being updated but it’s impossible to mark anything as read, everything appears as if it’s a new article moments after being viewed.  You think that Google would be mindful of service interuptions after the recent high profile (yet temporary) loss of subscribed feeds for certain users.

 I thought RSS was supposed to solve the problem of reading the exact same article twice?
